Each year, we award a $1000 Scholarship to a high school student who will be attending a 4 year college in NC. The FV Woman's Club also awards a scholarship. The two clubs work together to judge applicants from FVHS and HCHS. Each club's winner goes on to District Competition.

blueflower.jpg Women's Prison Visit (Yearly)

A project of GFWC-NC District 6 is to support the Chrysalis Club in the NC Correctional Institution for Women by each club visiting one month a year. The GFWC FV JWC and the FV Woman's Club visit the Chrysalis Club together with each club taking turns providing the program. Both clubs take food and drinks for the meeting. Members must sign up a month in advance so a background check can be performed. You must have your driver's license with you when you check-in at the prison. This is a Public Affairs Department Project. Past programs have been playing Bunko, nurse to answer medical questions and cover breast cancer awareness, fitness/nutrition expert, and make overs. The past few years, this event has taken place on the 3rd Tuesday of January at 4:30pm.

blueflower.jpg Charity Ball (Yearly)

The ball is held on a Friday in mid-November and features a band, dancing, heavy hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and silent auction. All members are required to help make the ball a success by doing several of the following: selling tickets, getting silent auction items and sponsors, decorating, attending. Members are required to purchase tickets to attend the ball. The Thursday night before the ball, we meet at Bentwinds to decorate, setup the silent auction items and prepare bid sheets.
